Brad's Story
Professional graphic design can do wonders for your visual communications. Effective design grows out of a unique mix of creativity, education, experience and collaboration. I am a full-time freelance designer based out of New Haven, Indiana. With over seven years experience as a professional designer, I thrive on exceeding my clients expectations in both creativity and service. I am a graduate of Indiana University – Fort Wayne and have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design. So, if you’re in need of custom print and web design; logo/identity design, web design, business cards, letterhead, envelopes, brochures, sell sheets or direct mail - we should talk.
After graduating from college in 2000 I spent four years as a designer in a large corporate graphics department. That is where I got my feet wet learning print design and production. I then moved on to become the creative director for a non-profit organization for two years providing oversight to a name change, new website, and new print communications.
In September 2007, Identity33 was born as I began operating as a full-time freelance graphic designer specializing in identity and print design. I have over seven years experience with corporate, retail, and non-profit organizations and clientele. I am proficient in Adobe CS3 Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat Professional, Flash and Dreamweaver. I also teach a continuing education course on Adobe Illustrator at Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne.
People often ask me what the name Identity33 means. I specialize in identity design and the number 33 was my age when I launched out on my own. Also, in addition to my age, 33 is a ubiquitous number in the advertising world. It may have all started with the number 33 being inadvertently printed on some Rolling Rock labels and then having all kinds of stories built around it. It has been said that the 33 represents the number of words in the slogan on the bottle. It is also believed that the 33 was left on the label by accident during the printing process and since it was during the Depression and Rolling Rock paints their label directly on the bottles, it would have been extremely expensive to discard the batch of bottles and reprint them all. So the 33 stayed. Or, my favorite theory is that 33 is just one degree above freezing, therefore it's the perfect temperature for beer.
Not only is the number 33 famous for it's advertising history, but on a spiritual level 33 is historically recognized as the age of Christ when he was crucified, buried, and rose from the dead. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus is significant to me personally because I am a follower of Christ.
Currently, I live in New Haven with my wife, two children, and two cats. When I'm not designing, I enjoy spending time with my family and riding my mountain bike. If you're in the Fort Wayne area, give me a call and we can get together for coffee, tea, or something with a 33 on the label.
Cordially,
-brad
